2013 MERITS program is underway!
The 2013 MERITS student class has been selected and matched with host institutions across the state. The program kicks-off with an orientation day event on Monday, June 24. Students will then begin work on their research projects at their designated host institutions the very next day.
Eleven students make up the 2013 class from seven different high schools. Students will be working in projects relating to climate change, effects of radiation on neural morphology and function, studies of biosignatures in Serpentinite-water systems and projects that relate to various disciplines in Neuroscience, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry, Environmental Science and Biology.
Students will be immersed in hands-on research work through the seven week program this summer. The program will conclude with a celebration day event on the last day of the program. The celebration event will bring together students, their parents and host mentors for the purpose of showcasing the outstanding work that students have contributed to their projects.
Congratulations to the Class of 2013 – we look forward to a fun and productive program this year!
